What’s a safe prediction for the winter ahead? Often even a day or two in the future the outlook can be subject to revisions by professional forecasters but still things are coming into focus regarding the timeframe December through March. Meteorologist Brad Rippey says just playing the odds, overall it’s going to be a colder and drier period than a year ago. Last year saw the sixth warmest winter on record. It was also a top 20 wettest winter according to the National Weather Service. Adding the La Nina weather pattern to the mix it is more likely the winter months will see colder than normal temperatures in the north and drier conditions in the south. Of course, this always comes with a disclaimer that these conditions represent trends rather than an exact forecast.
