CENTREVILLE, MI (WTVB) — St. Joseph County Prosecutor John McDonough was arrested Monday night following a crash which allegedly involved alcohol near Three Rivers
Police say that the 40-year-old was charged with operating while intoxicated and having a open container in a motor vehicle.
St. Joseph County Sheriff Mark Lillywhite says McDonough was involved in a single-vehicle crash on Lovers Lane. McDonough was the only occupant of the vehicle and he was not injured.
There was damage to McDonough’s SUV and also to a property owners’ fence.
McDonough was lodged in the Cass County Jail overnight. His arraignment is set for May 21, 2020.
Lillywhite told WWMT-TV that when his department’s is through investigating, the findings will be turned over to the Michigan Attorney General’s Office. A special prosecutor will then be chosen.
McDonough has been the St. Joseph County Prosecutor for 12 years.
