LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – It is ironic that, during this “National Travel and Tourism Week,” that travel and tourism are practically halted nationwide, let alone worldwide, because of COVID 19.
In an effort to boost those in the industry directly affected by the shutdown, as well as to lift morale dampened by “Stay Home, Stay Safe” social isolation, the Pure Michigan arm of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, M-Live and the group “Under the Radar Michigan” are holding hour-long streaming programs featuring well known performers and celebrities from this state.
Otie McKinley of Pure Michigan says that this “Come Together: A Relief Effort for Tourism Workers” can be seen through the Facebook pages of M-Live and Pure Michigan. “It’s an incredible cross-section of Michigan folks promoting what it is they love, and providing an entertainment window for folks every day for the week,” he said during an appearance last week on “WHTC Morning News.” “It’s all in an effort to raise money for the Michigan Hospitality Industry Employee Relief Fund.”
The 7-8 p.m. program is being streamed during the “National Travel and Tourism Week,” which is held annually during the first week in May.
