LANSING, MI (WHTC) – Governor Snyder made it official today, signing legislation designating March 8, 2016 as the Presidential Primary date for Michigan. Democrats are not expected to use that election to determine delegates for the National Convention in Philadelphia, opting instead for a closed caucus. Republican are expected to hold an open ballot on that date, which is the earliest under national GOP rules. Michigan had violated them in 2012 and 2008 to the reduction of voting delegates at the convention. These were the first two bills of the new legislative session that have been signed into law.
