GRAND RAPIDS (WKZO-AM) — MRSA has sent the youngest survivor of the February shooting rampage in Kalamazoo back to a hospital in Grand Rapids.
The difficult-to-treat bacterial infection was discovered deep within one of 14-year-old Abigail Kopf’s incisions last month. It required the removal of a 3D-printed plate used to reconstruct her skull.
Kopf, who was shot in the head, was the lone survivor of the attack at the Cracker Barrel in Texas Township, where four people were killed. Six were killed across three locations, allegedly by 45-year-old Jason Dalton.
Kopf returned home in April after two months of rehabilitation.
The Kopf family has a GoFundMe page to help defray costs associated with her recovery.
