LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Michigan’s Presidential Primary is March 10 and some citizens may have already submitted their votes, but what if the candidate you chose dropped out of the race?
Kalamazoo City Clerk Scott Borling says voters have until 4 p.m. Friday March 6 to mail a second ballot, but after that, they will have to fix it in person.
The do-over is called “spoiling” your ballot. Voters have to go to their local clerk’s office before Monday March 9 at 4:00 p.m. and request their ballot to be pulled out.
No reason has to be given and anyone can vote absentee, thanks to the passing of Proposal 3 in 2018.
A new vote can then be cast, but voters might have to do it again if any more of their choices drop out after Super Tuesday.
The names of all the candidates who qualified for the Michigan primary will still appear on the ballot March 10, whether they are still running or not.
All voters may want to check the status of their favorite before they head for the polls on Tuesday.
Voters can also check their registration, find their sample ballot, track their absentee ballot, and more by going to michigan.gov/vote.
