DEARBORN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – AAA Michigan is projecting over 1.3-million Michiganders will be traveling at least 50 miles from home for Memorial Day weekend.
The figure is the second-highest projection for Memorial Day in the state, despite high gas prices.
AAA Michigan’s Adrienne Woodland says the price at the gas pump will cause some travelers to shorten trips, delay plans, or stay closer to home.
Most Michigan residents will drive to their destination, and the number of people planning to fly is down 1.7% from last year.
The top domestic destination is Orlando, Florida and Rome is the top international destination.
