UNDATED, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Experts are projecting an early spring season for Michigan and the rest of the world thanks to the Spring Equinox coming early this year.
According to research published by the Old Farmer’s Almanac, the Spring Equinox is scheduled to occur on March 19th this year. This makes it the earliest occurrence in 124 years.
Leap Years are said to be the primary cause of the Equinox getting set back. Even more so, experts say that the Spring Equinox should be occurring earlier every four years, beginning in 2024.
According to data from Accuweather, during the week beginning Monday, March 2nd and ending Sunday, March 8th, weather is predicted to remain in the 40’s and 50’s. The lowest temperature expected is 39 degrees on Friday, March 6th.
Looking further down the month, more specifically around the time of the Spring Equinox, Accuweather predicts that the weather will remain steadily in the 40 and 50 range.
Experts also remind citizens that winter weather could still occur in Michigan at this time.
However, it is also said that Spring could bring a rough allergy season for Michigan citizens. Accuweather reports that a large portion of the country, including Michigan, may be in for a “long and severe season this spring.”
Researchers cite the predicted “above-normal rainfall and near-average temperatures” as the reasoning behind more severe allergy reactions. These conditions are expected to create higher than average pollen levels from trees, weeds and grass.
