KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — At last reported on April 4, there are now three confirmed coronavirus deaths in Kalamazoo County.
On Saturday officials with the Kalamazoo County Health and Community Services Department released a statement saying that they have received a notification of two additional deaths in the county.
Both patients were older adults with underlying medical conditions, but no other details have been released at this time.
That brings Kalamazoo County’s death toll to three with at least 40 positive coronavirus cases.
In addition, Bronson health officials are now sharing how many coronavirus patients they have in each of their hospitals on their website. Bronson Methodist in Kalamazoo has seven positive cases and one reported death.
The first confirmed cases in the county began on March 23 when three tested positive, including a deputy with the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Department.
Since then, four Western Michigan University students have tested positive for COVID-19 and one, who was from the Detroit area, passed away from the illness.
However, these numbers are changing daily as more county residents are being tested. The most updated information can be found at the Kalamazoo County Health and Community Service’s website here.
