KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo Public Safety officers are releasing more details on a pedestrian-involved crash that occurred in downtown Kalamazoo on Friday October 11th.
They say 32-year-old Jesse Wilcox from Ann Arbor was attempting to cross West Michigan Avenue near Church Street inside the crosswalk when he was struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound.
Wilcox was rushed to the hospital where he was first listed in critical condition. Officers say he is still recovering from serious injures.
Kalamazoo Public Safety’s Criminal Investigation Division and Forensic Laboratory are still investigating the crash.
A day later, Kalamazoo County Sheriff deputies say the teen girl who was struck by a vehicle in Oshtemo has been upgraded from critical to stable condition.
The 14-year-old girl was attempting to cross West Main Street, east of Maple Hill Drive Saturday night, was not in a crosswalk, did not have the right-of-way, and failed to yield to traffic.
Because of this, officers say the driver that hit her will not be charged.
