PAW PAW, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Michigan ACLU chose Martin Luther King Day to file a formal complaint against Paw Paw Public Schools, claiming a “racially hostile environment” exists in the district.
The complaint points at their “Redskins” mascot as the most obvious example.
In his complaint to the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights, ACLU Attorney Mark Fancher claims they have obtained reports of several incidents in the high school including bullying and harassment.
School officials deny the allegation, saying the ACLU needs to do better research.
The Department of Education has not said whether it will investigate.
