COMSTOCK TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Battle Creek man accused of killing a young father and injuring three officers during a hostage situation in Comstock Township is undergoing a psychiatric evaluation.
35-year-old William Jones was supposed to appear in court on Wednesday but it was recommended that has the evaluation, delaying his preliminary hearing until February.
Jones faces over a dozen charges, including open murder and home invasion, for the shooting death of 22-year-old Christopher Neal at a home on Proctor Avenue on December 1st.
When authorities arrived Jones shot and injured a Michigan State Police trooper, a Kalamazoo public Safety officer, and a Kalamazoo County deputy before attempting to jump through a window and escape. He remains in the Kalamazoo County Jail.
