COMSTOCK TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Police have announced the suspect arrested in the a Sunday murder and home invasion in Comstock Township is being charged in court.
On Sunday, December 1st, police arrested William Paul Jones, 35, in the home invasion and murder of Christopher Neal.
Jones broke into the home around 10:30 p.m. The home invasion escalated into a hostage situation which ended with Jones shooting Neal.
Neal’s wife and child were hiding in a separate room and were not hurt, however, three officers were shot in the incident. All three are expected to make a recovery.
Jones is now facing the following charges:
- Homicide- Open Murder
- Home Invasion 1st Degree
- Attempted Murder (3 Counts)
- Kidnapping
- Felony Firearm (7 Counts)
- Felon In Possession Of A Firearm
- Felon In Possession Of Ammunition
- Resisting And Obstructing Police Officer
During a hearing Tuesday, police said that Jones himself was one of the people who called 911 dispatchers. He called in to report that “Christopher Neal is dead.”
Jones had previously been arrested last year in a series of break-ins near the Battle Creek area with an accomplice.
