EMMETT TOWNSHIP (WKZO AM/FM) – Emmett Township Department of Public Safety dettectives are investigating two incidents involving the theft of property after the victims met a suspect on a cell phone dating app and allowed the stranger into their homes.
Since the end of July, Emmett Township officers have been investigating two separate complaints of people meeting a male subject on a mobile app identified as GRINDR. Both meetings took place at the victim’s respective residences.
Prior to the suspect leaving the residence, he reportedly stole the keys to the subject’s residence as well as automotive keys. In one case, the suspect is believed to have stolen the vehicle belonging to victim and then set the car on fire. In the second instance, the suspect held the keys and demanded payment to get the keys back.
A subject has been arrested in connection with the second offense; the arson investigation is ongoing.
