KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A water main break is causing some serious traffic issues on a busy street in Kalamazoo Township.
City officials were seen around noon on Thursday working to fix water across the road on West Main Street.
The Kalamazoo Public Services Department says West Main Street will be closed between East Westwood Drive and West Westwood Drive due to the water main break.
Drivers should seek an alternate route. No word on when it will be reopened.
Due to the loss of pressure, this is also prompting a precautionary boil water advisory for some homeowners in the area.
The advisory includes:
- W. Main Street – From Sydelle Avenue (western boundary) to Gilkison Avenue (eastern boundary), both sides of street
- Pinehurst – Only the northwest corner of Pinehurst and W. Main Street
- W. Westwood Drive – From W. Main Street (northern boundary) south to E. Westwood Drive (southern boundary), both sides of street
- E. Westwood Drive – From W. Main Street (northern boundary) south to W. Westwood Drive, both sides of street.
Residents should boil their water or used bottled water for the time being. City officials hope to lift the advisory by Sunday.
