KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A suspect is in custody after a domestic dispute prompted a lockdown at a nearby school on Kalamazoo’s Northside.
Public Safety officers were made aware of the incident on West North Street near Staples Avenue around 9 a.m. Thursday after a caller mentioned a weapon and then hung up.
The Woodward School for Technology and Research was placed on lockdown as officers surrounded the area and placed the suspect under arrest for multiple charges.
Officials say at no time was the school in any danger but they initiated the lockdown due to the close proximity to the incident.
The suspect is currently being held at the Kalamazoo County Jail without bond until his arraignment.
