KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A man accused of robbing a Kalamazoo bank in March has been sentenced in federal court.
Draper Delano Turner pleaded guilty for the robbery of the Old First National Bank in Kalamazoo with his brother.
Court documents show that on November 14, the 38-year old was sentenced to four years, three months in federal prison followed by two years of probation. This came after reaching a plea deal with prosecutors.
His brother, Kevin Delando Turner, is awaiting trial for his role in the robbery. His trial is currently scheduled for January 14, 2020.
According to a press release from the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety, one of the men entered Old National Bank on Portage Street at approximately 12:36 p.m. March 25th and demanded money from the teller.
After receiving the money, they then fled the scene. KDPS officers said that no one was hurt in the incident.
Kevin Turner is facing charges for the March robbery with his brother on one count of armed robbery.
He is also being charged with armed robbery in the January 22nd robbery of a Fifth Third Bank in Wyoming, and for a previous robbery at Horizon Bank in Benton Harbor.
