KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The City of Kalamazoo has approved a purchasing agreement through the Brownfield Redevelopment Authority (BRA) to begin a new affordable housing project in the North Side neighborhood.
During a meeting Monday night, City Commissioners voted unanimously in favor of the project, which will be located at 447 West North Street.
The purchasing agreement was made with the Northside Association for Community Development (NACD).
According to a statement through the city website, this project “is working toward the goal of investing in core neighborhoods to encourage affordable housing. The NACD intents to combine this piece of property with other adjacent parcels in order to create a new development that will revitalize this part of the neighborhood corridor.”
The project was originally approved during a meeting last October. Documents state that the site of the property was approved at the price of $100.00.
Further details about the housing project were not immediately made available.
This measure was one of six that were unanimously approved by City commissioners on Monday night.
