PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The City of Portage has selected the winners of its annual “I Love Portage!” essay contest.
Of the 114 entries submitted, 5 winners were selected as the finalists, all of which are listed below:
- Max Clements – 4th Grade Moorsbridge Elementary
- Samantha Lee – 5th Grade Amberly Elementary
- Madelyn Peterson – 4th Grade Central Elementary
- Leia Shaffer – 3rd Grade Haverhill Elementary
- Ann Wang – 3rd Grade Haverhill Elementary
“We very much enjoyed reading the essays of so many Portage students,” Portage Mayor Patricia Randall said in a statement. “These kids did a wonderful job describing all there is to love about the City of Portage.”
The first place winners will “flip the switch” to light the City Centre holiday display on Saturday, December 7 at 6 PM during the Traditional Holiday and Tree Lighting Celebration.
The winning essays can all be viewed on the city website at www.portagemi.gov.
