KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo Township Trustees have accepted for first reading, amendments to their Medical Marijuana ordinance and have set a special meeting for next Tuesday evening to take a final vote on the ordinance. It was not unanimous.
While most of the board supported the final draft of the plan, Township Supervisor Don Martin felt they rushed it and had not provided protection for everyone that he would have liked to see screened from such businesses.
Trustee Nicolette Leigh felt very differently, that they had been far too restrictive and hope one day they will relax the regulations and restrictions they have imposed on Medical Marijuana businesses, but she voted for it as a step forward.
The special meeting next Tuesday will meet the Board’s self-imposed deadline to have the ordinance in place by March 1st. They would be the first in the area to do so.
