KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – After serving over 5,000 free meals to Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo College, and Kalamazoo Valley Community College students, as well as their spouses and children, Feeding Broncos will be celebrating their first anniversary next month.
Since their inaugural dinner February 3, 2025, where 119 students gathered at the Kanley Chapel meal site, Feeding Broncos, a Registered Student Organization at WMU, has made it their mission to address food insecurity and foster community for hundreds of students and families. They served 5,028 meals from February 3 through December 18, 2025, and a grand total of 5,291 as of today.
A special anniversary dinner will be held Thursday, February 5 from 5:00-6:0 p.m. at Kanley Chapel. All university students with a valid university ID are invited to attend with their spouses and children.
The event will begin with an awards presentation recognizing students and alumni who have contributed 15 or more hours of volunteer service, honoring the spirit of giving that fuels the program. The group says several distinguished guests from Kalamazoo and Western Michigan University have been invited to attend the celebration, also.
