KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Rachel Kaiser, the former operations director for Kalamazoo Strong has been charged with felony embezzlement for allegedly siphoning money out of a fund set up to help the victims of Kalamazoo’s mass murder.
The volunteer group organized a series of spectacular fundraisers that brought the community together during a difficult period, and then stepped up again when the community was rocked a second time by the death of five cyclists in a few months later.
They allege that Kaiser used an unauthorized card, making 40 unapproved purchases of everything from jewelry to lunch at Wendy’s.
She turned herself in to the County Sheriff’s office, was booked and arraigned and freed after the judge set bail at $10,000, and told her not to leave the state.
She currently lives in West Bloomfield near Detroit.
