VICKSBURG (WKZO AM/FM) — The Vicksburg community is excited about the prospect of revitalizing the long vacant Fox River Paper Mill, which was its largest employer until it closed nearly two decades ago.
Developer Chris Moore has a 50-million dollar plan to turn it into a multi-purpose facility that would include a micro-brewery and Tap Room, retail space, community meeting and conference areas and other businesses, creating perhaps as many as 300 jobs.
They call that “transformational” in that part of the county.
The project has tapped a wide variety of government tax breaks and assistance plans to help finance the rehabilitation of the old paper mill.
This week the County Board accepted a $1.25-million dollar loan and a $100,000 grant from the DEQ for environmental testing and remediation at the site.
