PORTAGE (WKZO AM/FM) — A young Portage woman has been bound over to stand trial for allegedly beating one of her twin infant sons to death, and abusing the other.
It began at the end of January at a home in the 10,000 block of Woodlawn Drive in Portage when 21-year-old Jennifer Mohler said one of her infant sons was having a seizure.
But after further investigations she later confessed to striking the boys dozens of times because they wouldn’t stop crying.
Doctors testified at her preliminary hearing that bleeding on the brain resulted in the death of 5-month-old Logan, and his twin brother, Noah, suffered similar assaults but survived.
One pathologist likened the injuries to the kind a child might suffer in a high speed auto crash.
She is being held without bond in the Kalamazoo County Jail.
Her attorney claims Mohler was also the victim of child abuse and several witnesses testified that she has shown little remorse.
