ANTWERP TOWNSHIP (WKZO AM/FM) — A motorcyclists is suffering from serious injuries after he crashed into a car in Van Buren County causing his motorcycle to split into two pieces.
It happened just before 4:15 p.m. Sunday afternoon on westbound I-94 west of the Mattawan exit in Antwerp Township.
Authorities say the 32-year-old motorcyclists from Cilo was speeding past cars when he crashed into a Volkswagen Jetta in the right lane.
He then lost control, fell off the motorcycle, slid onto the roadway and smashed into the median.
The man was wearing a helmet but still suffered fractures, injured feet and legs, severe road rash on his body, and could also face charges for speeding.
The Volkswagen sustained damage and was towed from the scene, but the driver, a 28-year-old man from Chicago, and his passenger were uninjured.
