KENT COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The trial continues for Quinn James, the former Kentwood Public Schools employee accused of raping an East Kentwood High School student and murdering her months later.
The jury in the James rape trial got to hear the suspect admit to having sex with Mujay Dumbuya in a tape from a police interrogation.
He claimed he thought she was 17 and not 15 and that it was consensual.
But they also heard testimony from a school councelor who took notes while the victim told her about the assaults, saying they were forced and that she said no, and that James was her rapist.
James is also charged with killing the teen and dumping her body in Kalamazoo’s West Douglas Neighborhood back in January to keep her from testifying in this trial, but the jury won’t hear about that, because that trial will be later on.
They are expected to hear from Dequarius Bibbs on Wednesday, who has already testified in earlier hearings that he witnessed some of the assaults.
