KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Opening arguments will come Tuesday in the rape trial of Quinn James, who is charged with sexually assaulting Mujey Dumbuya, who was 15 at the time.
Sometime during the trial, the Jury is expected to hear from the victim’s boyfriend, Dequarius Bibbs, who has testified at a preliminary hearing that he was present at some of the sexual assaults.
What the jury won’t hear is that James has also been charged with murdering Dumbuya and dumping her body along a trail in Kalamazoo, to allegedly keep her from testifying in this trial.
He is charged with four counts of criminal sexual conduct in the 3rd degree, those are 15 year felonies, but he could get more time if convicted, because he is considered a habitual offender.
He will be tried later for the kidnap and murder of the young girl.
