PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The city of Portage is closing its Oakland Drive Compost Facility to the public because it is nearly full.
It has been open to commercial tree removal companies since last week’s EF-2 tornado hit to help them remove downed trees.
It will remain closed for the time being to the public. It will stay open for municipal organizations.
The EF-2 tornado ripped apart 11 miles in Kalamazoo County last Tuesday, hitting Texas Township, the city of Portage, and Pavilion Township. Sixty buildings were completely destroyed.
