KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – No arrests yet in the Easter shooting that left a 16-year-old teenager dead in Kalamazoo, and two others wounded.
Detectives are still sorting out what happened during what they say was an online marketplace transaction at Reed and Race Streets just after 2 p.m. Sunday.
City commissioners commented on the city’s third homicide of the year last night.
Vice Mayor Jeanne Hess said the community has to try harder to find alternatives to gun violence.
Mayor Dave Anderson says the news made him sick to his stomach.
Public safety offers a well lit space at their headquarters on Crosstown Parkway, that is monitored by video cameras, just for such transactions, to ensure sellers don’t get ripped off, and deals don’t go sideways.
Detectives are asking for any help or information they can get from the public to help clarify what happened.
