KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — An infant is dead and a twin sister listed in critical condition after both were ejected from a mini-van, when it collided with a car early Friday morning in Kalamazoo.
Public Safety has identified the deceased victim as Dasani Lynn Colbert, who turned one year old just a few days ago. The name of his twin sister has not been released.
An older sibling and their mother suffered non-life threatening injuries. That was also the case with the driver of the sedan involved in the crash at North Street and North Rose at 6 am.
Lt. Brad Misner says they will be looking into whether the children were properly restrained, who had the right of way and make a determination on citations or possibly even criminal charges.
The Colberts were apparently on their way to a relative’s home as the mother was dropping off the kids so she could go to work. No information about the other driver has been released, but alcohol has apparently been ruled out as a factor in the crash.
The names and current conditions of the others involved in the crash have not been released.
