KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Shortage of workers has reached into almost every aspect of the economy affecting many businesses that provide fairly essential services to include those in Southwest Michigan.
Both the local bus service and the Road Commission of Kalamazoo County say they need qualified drivers.
The Metro Transit system will be holding a job fair next Tuesday, August 22 to recruit both full and part time drivers. It will be held at the Metro Transit bus barn and administration building on Rose Street just north of the train station.
The County Road Commission also needs drivers.
Commission Vice Chair Dave Pawlowski says they have 10 openings they need to fill.
Kalamazoo Schools also suffered an acute bus driver shortage this past school year, but they are hoping higher wages will prevent the need this coming year to suspend bus routes again.
