MARSHALL, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – Marshall Police have released details of an armed robbery last Friday which led to the arrest of a 22-year-old Jackson man.
Police say it happened in the 500 block of South Marshall after a 19-year-old and three friends drove from Ohio to Marshall to buy a vehicle they found on social media. The alleged victim told investigators he and a 18-year-old cousin met the seller and were led into a garage area.
Three men with handguns then robbed them. They were then placed on the floor and had their cell phones and IDs taken.
Police say four suspects ran off with roughly $12,000 in cash that was intended for the vehicle purchase. The victims were released unharmed.
They confirmed that the person who arranged the transaction was the suspect who robbed them. The suspect was located and arrested Saturday by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and was lodged in the Calhoun County Jail.
The robbery is still under investigation and police say additional charges are being pursued.
Marshall Police received assistance from the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi Tribal Police and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
