KALAMAZOO (WKZO) — Kalamazoo County Sheriff Rick Fuller got a chance to thank all the dozens of agencies who took part in the emergency response to the massive pile-up on I-94 earlier this month.
He told the Kalamazoo County Board that they had a plan and the plan came together, with many pitching in without being asked.
He says Metro Transit provided buses and drivers when asked, the Superintendent of Galesburg-Augusta Schools called in a food service crew to feed the victims.
He says they had fire departments from two counties and ambulances from all over.
Hospitals in Battle Creek and Kalamazoo both were prepared for a disaster. Fortunately the injuries were not that bad.
He says he is also thankful that the State Police have agreed to apply their resources to investigate the crash.
He says it may be this coming summer before the investigation is complete.
