KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Are you impacted by plans to tear up Kalamazoo Avenue this summer, perhaps dreading what it may do to your commute or your business?
The city of Kalamazoo will be holding an open meeting to answer your questions and perhaps alleviate your fears Tuesday afternoon.
City planner Christina Anderson says it’s the first of a series of sessions they plan as the work progresses over the next three years.
“Anyone from the public that wants to join us, will be recording that meeting so we’ll be able to share it out afterwards,” she says, adding “So we’re able to really dive into details with those that are going to be kind of the first line of those impacted by construction.”
They also plan meetings with major property owners in the area, and then a big meeting with the contractors just before the work begins in about a month.
“As soon as we have that preconstruction meeting it’ll be mid to late July, we’re going to be working with the Event Center to take care of this section between Westnedge and Park along their frontage.”
The first session begins Tuesday at 4 p.m. at the Metro Transit office building at 530 North Rose Street.
