KALAMAZOO (WKZO) — A Kalamazoo man who allegedly punched his girlfriend and then struck her with a puppy, hurting her and killing the dog, has been sentenced to six months in jail and four years on probation, as part of a plea deal with prosecutors.
In exchange for his guilty plea, charges of animal abuse were dropped.
Timothy Tucker has several previous convictions and many in the courtroom thought he was getting off too easy.
With time served, he will be out in less than four months.
He was also ordered into the Swift and Sure Sanctions probation program which provides intense supervision and random testing for drugs and alcohol, with immediate jail time for violations.
Its designed specifically for ex-offenders who find that regular probation is not enough supervision.
