LANSING (WKZO) — With the new session in Lansing less than a week old, Democrats are upset and demanding a meeting with the House Speaker.
They want to find out why Speaker Kevin Cotter did not assign Brandon Dillon to serve as Vice-chair in the House Appropriations Committee as they requested, and to “reset the tone for the next two years”.
Kalamazoo Democratic Representative Jon Hoadley sits on that committee and signed the letter to Speaker Cotter. He says they don’t want to view it as a sign of contention.
Cotter appointed Pam Faris to be Vice-Chair, but she and the other 11 democrats have all declined until the “precedent of respect is restored” and presumably Dillon is named as Vice-Chair.
