LANSING, MI — University of Michigan Health-Sparrow officially broke ground Monday on a $60-million outpatient surgery center, a project designed to expand access to care and modernize surgical services in Mid-Michigan, according to a press release.
The new surgery center, located at the corner of East Michigan and Pennsylvania avenues in downtown Lansing, will feature multiple operating rooms and a new MRI unit. The project responds to a growing demand for outpatient services and reflects UM Health-Sparrow’s commitment to the community. The surgery center is expected to open in 2028.
“This center is a direct outgrowth of what our patients are asking for and need,” said Margaret Dimond, Regional President of U-M Health. “This spot on Michigan Avenue allows for better and more convenient parking and is closer to UM Health-Sparrow Lansing.”
The new facility will initially open with four operating rooms and will have the capacity to expand as demand grows, according to the press release.
