ST. JOSEPH, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The father of Congressman Fred Upton has died.
Steve Upton was 98 and died yesterday morning. Steve was the son of Whirlpool co-founder Frederick Upton and was a World War Two veteran.
The elder Upton also served as a Whirlpool senior vice president.
“Dad led us all by example to give back to our community and try to make this world a better place,” Fred Upton said in a statement.
Steve Upton leaves behind his wife Elizabeth, five chilrdren, 17 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.
Fred Upton did not run for election in Michigan’s newly created 4th Congressional District, ending his 18 year term in Congress this week.
