OSHTEMO (WKZO) — It started with a tip from a citizen that a child may be living in a home in Oshtemo Township that had been turned into a meth lab.
Kalamazoo County Deputies and a Case Worker from Child Protective Services raided the home in the 8-thousand block of Beechwood Drive and found the tip was accurate.
They found the debris from multiple Methamphetamine cooks, several active cooks, components and some finished Meth.
CPS removed the child from the potentially dangerous living situation.
A 27-year-old was arrested for outstanding warrants.
Charges are pending against a 20-year-old also found in the home.
Not only are the fumes emitted by a meth cook toxic, but the contents are highly volatile and can explode in a ball of flames.
Homes used to cook meth become coated with chemicals and need to be professionally detoxified before they are safe to live in again. Sometimes they aren’t worth saving and are demolished.
