BATTLE CREEK, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – 32-year-old Jacob Kody Westover was arraigned on Monday in Calhoun County District Court on four counts of assault with intent to murder, criminal sexual conduct, and fleeing and eluding following a Sunday morning high speed chase in Battle Creek.
The series of events started at about 3:30 a.m. after Battle Creek Police officers were called to a home in the 400 block of Cliff Street.
Residents there reported a guest attacked someone living at the property and fired multiple gunshots once forced outside.
Authorities say the man fled the area in his vehicle and was able to elude law enforcement after taking off at speeds over 100 miles per hour into Bedford Township.
Officers took the man into custody at his home around 7:00 a.m.
No one was hit by the gunfire and the assault victim did not require medical attention.
Police say they found several assault weapons, and various calibers of ammunition in the suspect’s vehicle but an arraignment was not held Monday on any weapons charges.
