ORANGEVILLE TOWNSHIP (WKZO) — We know a few more details but there are still some major gaps in the story behind a fatal shooting in Barry County Tuesday evening.
Police have identified the victim as 34-year-old Steven Kaufman who was seen speeding through the area a short time before his death.
The next time he as seen, he was lying in the middle of the road, at Wildwood and Marsh Roads near Gun Lake, dead from a gunshot wound to the chest, his SUV parked but still running nearby.
What we don’t know is why police went to Sigmund Rumpf’s Barry County home just down the road and arrested him shortly after.
The 29-year-old has been charged with open murder and felony firearms and ordered held on 750-thousand dollars bond.
