PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Police are investigating a shooting where one woman was killed, another woman wounded, along with an infant Friday evening, August 26.
Portage Public Safety fire and police divisions responded to a report of a shooting around 10:50 p.m. between the occupants of two vehicles on the Oakland Drive west bound entrance ramp to I-94.
Upon arrival, two women and an infant were found shot. A 22-year-old Kalamazoo woman was transported to the Borgess Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The status of the two other victims who were also transported to Bronson hospital is unknown.
A 42-year-old Kalamazoo man was arrested near the scene on unrelated warrants after he was seen fleeing the area and attempted to enter the vehicle of a passing motorist.
A second vehicle believed to have been involved in the shooting is being sought and is described as a dark color Pontiac Grand Am.
An AR-15 rifle was recovered at the scene and determined to have been reported stolen in Kalamazoo County in 2016.
