KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Kalamazoo County Health Department (HCS) announced Tuesday that it has provided community partners with adult KN95 masks to be distributed to residents, free of charge.
Residents can pick up masks from the specified locations during their normal hours of operations and while supplies last.
Officials say KN95 masks are more effective at preventing spread than disposable or cloth masks.
On Monday, January 31, 2022, Kalamazoo County HCS distributed 30,000 masks to community partners who are now providing those masks to the public.
KN95 masks are not available for pick-up at Kalamazoo County HCS.
Residents can receive KN95 masks free of charge at the following locations:
- Comstock Community Center – 6330 King Highway, Kalamazoo, MI 49048
- Northside Association – 612 North Park Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49007
- Edison Neighborhood Association – 816 Washington Avenue, Kalamazoo, MI, 49007
- South Community Center – 606 Spruce Street, Kalamazoo, MI, 49097
“While community transmission of COVID-19 remains high in our community, it is important to take all of the preventive measures we can to reduce spread,” Medical Director at Kalamazoo County HCS Dr. William Nettleton said in a statement. “That includes getting vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19, following quarantine and isolation guidelines, but also proper mask wearing, and when possible, using masks that are most effective at preventing the spread of viruses like COVID-19.”
Kalamazoo County HCS encourages residents to take advantage of these free masks available to the community.
