JACKSON (WKZO-AM) — Consumers Energy says some west Michigan residents may remain in the dark through Christmas, after thunderstorms and 60 mph winds left over 100,000 homes and businesses statewide without power Thursday.
Spokesperson Brian Wheeler says company employees expect to be working through the holiday.
“If you’re without power, be prepared to be without power until Sunday,” Wheeler said.
Nearly 30,000 customers lost electricity in Kent, Ottawa and Allegan counties. Hundreds in Kalamazoo and Calhoun counties also had their power cut.
