KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — The family of 14-year-old Abigail Kopf, the child critically wounded in a shooting at the Cracker Barrel in Texas Township that left four dead, says the teenager has been taken off a ventilator at Bronson Methodist Hospital and is breathing on her own.
The announcement was made through the family’s GoFundMe page. The Harper Creek Middle School student is one of only two survivors from the Feb. 20 shooting rampage that left six dead.
They say their “hearts are full of joy,” and call it a milestone. They say Kopf also wiped her face with a towel.
The other survivor, Tiana Carruthers, remains in serious condition. She is recovering from four bullet wounds at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.
UPDATE 11 a.m. 2/29 – Kopf is now listed in serious condition.
