BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — He was the odd man out in a love triangle and now he is in jail after Battle Creek police say he fired rifle shots at his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend.
It happened on South Wabash Avenue after 8 a.m Friday
Police say 46-year-old James Woodson had broken up with his 32-year-old girlfriend and reportedly left town, moving out of the home they shared. Police say Woodson returned Friday morning, pushing past the woman and attempting to shoot the new boyfriend.
The 33-year-old managed to escape unharmed.
Woodson then allegedly fled with the rifle and the girlfriend’s purse.
Neither have been recovered but Woodson has been taken into custody and an arraignment is set for Monday for attempted murder, several gun felonies and other charges.
They are asking for the public’s help to find the purse and the rifle.
