VAN BUREN COUNTY (WKZO-AM) — The former fire chief of Keeler Township has been charged with a pair of felonies amid allegations that he siphoned money from the Keeler Emergency Services Support Association.
The money was raised by the non-profit to provide emergency financial aid to firefighters and the community.
WWMT-TV reports Matt Quinn has been charged with embezzlement and illegal use of a financial transaction device. His wife faces the same charges.
Charging documents allege $3,000 was taken from the account.
Quinn was issued a credit card, which was only supposed to be used for purchases approved by the board of the non-profit. Michigan State Police investigators claim he used it to make personal purchases, and his wife allegedly concealed the purchases as the organization’s treasurer.
