LANSING (WKZO-AM) — Lt. Gov. Brian Calley has signed a pair of bills that criminalize “revenge porn” in Michigan.
Under the legislation authored by Sen. Rick Jones, R-Grand Ledge, first-time offenders could spend over three months in prison and be ordered to pay a $500 fine. Repeat offenders could spend a year in prison and pay a fine up to $1,000.
Both pieces of legislation disallow people from publishing an ex-lover’s “sexts” or other explicit images online without their consent.
