CHICAGO (WKZO-AM) — Gas prices have spiked to around $2.40 a gallon in west Michigan.
Regular is selling for about $2.33 in Kalamazoo right now, which is about 20 cents higher than the average price on Wednesday. Gregg Laskoski with GasBuddy.com said prices may continue to rise for the next two months.
Laskoski said we can blame crude oil. The commodity has jumped $10 in the last three weeks.
We may have no one but ourselves to blame for the rise in crude. Gas prices have been so low that everyone has been driving more. Drivers know that, if they don’t take advantage of the exceptionally low prices now, they may not get another chance, Laskoski said.
Laskoski said pump prices could top out between $2.50 to $2.75 by Memorial Day.
