KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — The youngest survivor of the Kalamazoo shooting rampage will undergo surgery on May 13 to replace a portion of her skull that remains missing after she was shot in the head.
Abigail Kopf, 14, has been recovering at home in Battle Creek for about a week after spending nearly two months in hospitals in Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids.
She was one of five people struck outside the Cracker Barrel restaurant in Texas Township, allegedly by 45-year-old Jason Dalton.
Four were left dead in that attack. Kopf was initially pronounced dead at the scene, but later squeezed her mother’s hand.
The other surviving victim, 25-year-old Tiana Carruthers, is recovering at home.
